How marking works
A score with its reasoning attached
Writing and Speaking are marked against the four official IELTS criteria, with comments on each one rather than a single number.
Speaking is transcribed before it is marked, so the feedback refers to what you actually said. A teacher can review the result and adjust it.
The four Writing criteria
- Task Response
- How fully and accurately the question is answered.
- Coherence & Cohesion
- Structure, line of argument, and the links between ideas.
- Lexical Resource
- Range of vocabulary, precision, and natural usage.
- Grammatical Range & Accuracy
- Variety of sentence structure and grammatical accuracy.
Speaking uses its own criteria, which include Pronunciation.

Three stages, set by target band
Each stage is a way of using the system, not a packaged course. You can move between them at any time.
Intensive
Sit full four-skill mock tests under real timing, with marks and comments on Writing and Speaking.
Target band
6.0 - 6.5
Advanced
Repeat mock tests, track progress criterion by criterion, and send work to a teacher for review.
